In a move that is sure to outrage conservatives because of the combination of gayness and immigration, the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement included a provision in it’s revised Performance Based Detention Standards that requires officers to allow prisoners to continue hormone therapy if they were receiving the treatment before being taken into custody.
Most people who read this blog have likely already heard about the Macy’s employee who was fired for not allowing a transgendered woman to use the women’s dressing room. The amazing thing to me is that conservatives are making this a religious issue.

Two transgender Fort Collins High School students, one who identifies as male and one who identifies as female, say they are forced to use the staff restrooms instead of the student restrooms. Dionne Malikowski says she was suspended for trying to use the student women’s restroom.
Add another victory for PFLAG. The Howard County Council is moving to make gender identity a protected status under county law, prohibiting discrimination based on gender identity in housing and employment.
In a survey that asked American’s opinion on questions related to transgender rights, a poll found that most Americans support general transgender rights, including a surprising 75% support for laws protecting transgendered people from employment discrimination.
The City of Seattle Office of Civil Rights has announced that it will now cover transgender related procedures for City employees.
Governor Dan Malloy of Connecticut signed legislation on July 6 that bans discrimination based on a person’s “gender identity or expression”.
